The saskatoon berry (otherwise known as juneberry, serviceberry) has been a delicious and high anti-oxidant staple in the diet of prairie born people for centuries. Unfortunately, the plants are very difficult to grow without using pesticides to prevent disease and insects. However, Over the Hill Orchard’s saskatoon berries, grown in Lumston SK, are Certified Organic, which is almost unheard of. The Prairie Saskatoon Spread has a wonderful unique flavour, half the sugar of jam, and the ingredients are Certified Organic; what can be better than that?
Please note that since Over the Hill Orchards does not use preservatives, and use very little sugar, it is recommended that the spread be consumed within two months of opening.
