Omega–3 Free–Run Eggs – produced by hens fed a strictly vegetarian diet with generous amounts of flaxseed and feed that never contains any animal by–products, antibiotics, or synthetic yolk colour ingredients. These hens live in a Swiss aviary environment that allows space to scratch, dust bathe, and lay eggs in private nesting areas, and they can move freely within barns – from floor, to roosting areas, and perches.
All the laying hens at Nature’s Farm™ are free–run which means they are able to move freely within the poultry barns – from the barn floor, to roosting areas and perches. Unlike free–range hens, free–run hens do not eat outdoor vegetation, allowing us to control the diet and ensure only healthy feed is consumed. We give our hens the freedom to move about and lay their eggs in nests, thereby imitating a natural environment and maximizing their well being.
Why is Omega–3 Healthy?
Omega–3 fatty acids are essential fatty acids that are in short–supply in the typical North American diet. Omega–3s are important for healthy brain function, as well as for normal growth and development. Omega–3s have been linked to heart health, and studies of other Omega–3 health benefits are ongoing. Salmon, tuna, halibut, fish oil supplements, and some nut and seed (like flax and canola) oils, are good sources of Omega–3 fatty acids.
