SIGN UP (and cancellation of service)
Submit our Sign Me Up form, You choose what size of bin suits your needs. You can specify if there are items you never want, as well as telling us your fruit & veggie preferences.
By the next business day you will receive a Welcome email from us with your start date. Your fresh box (with or without add-on groceries) will be delivered on the same evening each week. That will be Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday evening, depending on what area of Winnipeg you live in.
You will automatically receive a Fresh Box each week.
By signing up you are not committed to continue service if it doesn’t suit your needs. There is no commitment but there is a non-refundable $10 sign-up charge. To cancel send an email asking for cancellation of service by at latest NOON the day prior to your scheduled next delivery (we appreciate more notice though).
FRESH BIN CONTENTS
The fresh box contents are set, and carefully chosen by our expert produce buyer for seasonality, quality, price, and to provide a typical household’s fruits and vegetables for healthy snacks and meals. We will get you the best value and quality for your week’s produce budget, quality guaranteed.
You can tell us your dislikes/preferences when you sign up. We will ensure you never get the things you don’t like, and make substitutions according to your preferences.
You can check what will be in your next week’s fresh bin each week by clicking on This Week’s Fresh Bin. Upcoming bin contents are posted each Friday by 4:00pm for the following week. Bin contents posted to the website are a best estimate and are subject to some changes due to the volatile nature of weather, farming, perishable produce and transport.
ADD ON GROCERIES
Add grocery items and extra produce to your fresh box from our on-line shopping cart. We’ll pack it along with your fresh box, on one invoice, with a single charge to your credit card. SUPER SIMPLE! You do not pay online. *Orders by Monday mornings are appreciated, but the official cut-off deadline is noon the day prior to your delivery*
You can choose to set up a “standing order” for add-ons. Some popular standing orders are local organic milk and eggs, bakery items, and fair trade organic coffee! To set up a standing order, submit an order from our shopping cart, noting in comments “the doz. organic eggs are a STANDING order” indicating you want them every week until you tell us otherwise.
CUSTOMIZE YOUR FRESH BIN At Sign Up
From the sign up form you can identify specific produce items that you never want in your fresh bin (permanent dislikes and/or allergies), as well as your preferences to help us choose substitutions if necessary. On weeks when your “dislikes’ specified avoidances are among the bin contents, you will instead automatically receive produce of an equivalent value. You don’t need to remind us of your permanent preferences and dislikes.
SKIP A WEEK
You will receive deliveries weekly unless you notify us to ‘skip’. You can skip one or several weeks, for whatever reason, at any time. Just let us know by email (preferred) or by phone. The deadline to skip is 12:00 NOON the day PRIOR to your scheduled delivery. We appreciate even more notice but you will be charged if we do not receive notification by the deadline. Fresh Option donates surplus food each week to a local food bank, shelter or community kitchen, and some of our customers request their skipped delivery be donated to one of these organizations to help the less fortunate eat well in Winnipeg.
You do not need to be home during the delivery window (5:30-9:30pm) to receive your delivery. Our Delivery Drivers will leave your order outside your front door (or another location you per-arrange) if you do not answer your door when we ring/knock.
PLEASE NOTE: We will call your primary phone number if we leave the box to alert you, stating the time we were at your home, a voicemail will be left if you do not answer your phone or doorbell). That step is time consuming for our busy drivers, so please answer your door. It is your responsibility to check for your delivery as in extremely cold or hot weather, fresh produce will be affected. Your orders are charged to your credit card during office hours on the day of your delivery and that charge will not be reversed or refunded if we make good on that arrangement to deliver.
SPECIAL DELIVERY INSTRUCTIONS / EXTREME WEATHER
If it’s below -20 Celsius, somebody should be home to receive the box. Fresh produce that sits outside over an hour may otherwise be frozen or compromised in quality.
With each fresh box order you receive a newsletter printed on the back of your receipt. This is an opportunity to share information about where and how your food was grown, factors affecting local farmers and eaters, produce storage and cooking tips, grocery specials, and recipes to inspire as you integrate this fresh produce into your ‘menu’. The recipes are vegetarian and highlight ingredients that can be found in your Fresh Box and from our grocery add-on offerings.
Our Promise: We strive to make your experience in opening each fresh bin a joy you look forward to each week, please let us know if we’ve missed our mark so we can achieve that goal. Fresh Option staff sorts and hand packs each fresh bin with utmost care. Some variation in size, shape, color, and even the occasional bug is considered an acceptable part of organic produce, If, however, you receive an item that is substandard in freshness or quality, we are happy to replace the item in your next box, or with other produce of the same value. Just email us immediately with details/photo (within 24 hours of receiving) so we can address the problem.
